Stress Relief - Tips On How to Cope

Stress is a part of every day life. if you are one of the many who can find it difficult to cope with stress, read on.

We feel stressed at times, but learning to recognize when we need help and finding ways to cope can be difficult. It can be hard to admit that you are stressed but it is very important to treat stress seriously, as it can affect your health if left untreated.

One of the best ways to treat stress is exercise. This doesn’t mean that you have to join a gym or invest in very expensive equipment; you can do virtually any form of exercise as long as it raises your heart rate and lasts for at least 15 minutes, and aerobic exercise is usually perfect for this. The point of the exercise is to relieve the symptoms of stress.

Quite simply when you work out your body releases endorphins which affect your mood and feeling. These "happy" hormones can help you to feel more relaxed and cheerful, and definitely less stressed.

Another way to cope with stress is to allocate your self some "me" time. Find a room that you can go to and relax without distractions. I personally use my bedroom. I shut the door and sit crossed legged on top of the bed. When sitting alone try to release the tension in your shoulders. Concentrate on your breathing, close your eyes if you feel like it. Become aware of your body and how it feels, notice the areas that feel tense and try to relax them. Free your mind of thoughts and pressures and breathe slowly and deeply.

Just spending 5 minutes doing this can help to bring your tension down as well as your levels of stress. Along side this form of relaxation you could listen to soothing music and/or light an aromatherapy candle. Camomile, Lavender and Ylang-Ylang are among the most common aromas known to aid relaxation and help those who are suffering with stress.

Don’t forget, if you are suffering with stress, you are not alone. There are lots of organisations around who are dedicated to helping those suffering from stress. If you would like more information just visit your local doctor or medical practitioner and they should be able to give you all the information you need about groups in your area.

We all have some element of stress in our daily lives. Reducing stress does not need to be as complicated as some would think.
