Types of Pain - Pain Theory

Pain can be very debilitating for the person suffering from some form of pain, whether it be acute or chronic in nature. There can be other manifestations from pain. Some of the symptoms can include nausea, headache, and perspiration. The emotional effects of pain can include anger, depression, irritability, and sometimes suicidal feelings. Your lifestyle oftentimes has to change because of pain. This could include working, recreational activities that you once enjoyed, and giving up on relationships. If you recognize any of these symptoms, please see your physician about using Tramadol.

If you have tried analgesics like aspirin, acetaminophen, and ibuprofen to relieve your pain symptom with little or no effect, it is time to visit your doctor. The aspirin and ibuprofen have anti-inflammatory properties, so those can be used in conjunction with Tramadol.

There are different forms of pain. There is acute, such as in an injury and then there is chronic pain. For acute pain from an injury, it is important that you ice the area that is injured. For the first 24 hours, apply ice for 20 minutes and repeat this every 2 hours. After 24 hours, you can then start applying heat to the affected area. Again, use heat for 20 minutes and repeat every 2 hours. You can use Tramadol with this type of injury to deal with the severe pain.

Acute pain is your bodies way of telling you that something is seriously wrong. This could be due to a number of things. Usually it is indicative of some sort of injury most of the time.

Chronic pain is considered chronic in nature if the pain last more than 3 months. For many individuals, anxiety, stress, depression and feelings of worthlessness can affect these patients. Tramadol works very well in helping to control the pain level that the patient is encountering. They will also usually be placed on an anti-depressant since most chronic pain patients contend with depression over their life.

It is very important that you see your doctor so that they can see what type of pain you are contending with. There have been some patients that refuse to go see their doctor because they find it a waste of their time and money. There have been some that have resorted to illegal drugs to maintain their pain level. The problem with that is the possibility of a severe addiction. With Tramadol, it is given in such low doses, which actually work and addiction does not usually become a factor. Anytime someone abuses any drug, even Tramadol, addiction can occur. Always use extreme caution when taking prescription medications.

A few chronic conditions that Tramadol is effective for is fibromyalgia, cancer, arthritis, gout, head, neck, and lower back pain. Just about every pain condition requiring prescription pain medications can be alleviated using Tramadol. You may not always be able to get rid of the pain completely, but at least to a manageable degree that you can accept and deal with.

It is very important that you take a pro-active role with your doctor when it comes to your health. He needs to have accurate information in determining if the Tramadol is working for you. He could also prescribe some physical therapy for you in order to exercise your muscles so that they don’t become atrophied. The doctor will also make an assessment to determine if you no longer need Tramadol for the acute pain from injury is healing, or for the chronic pain patient, the doctor may decide to increase your Tramadol to bring the pain under better control. He could at this time also decide you remove you from Tramadol and put you on a stronger narcotic.

This is why it is so important to have a good relationship with your physician. Don’t be afraid to tell him about everything. He takes all the information in and makes decisions about your care.
